-- The Author
Pete Gallagher
Major General (Retired), U.S. Army. Author, national security leader, and lifelong believer that ownership is a decision.

For over 35 years, I was tasked with building, defending, and commanding the communication lifelines for the United States' most elite forces, from the Special Operations community to serving as the CIO/J6 of United States Central Command, to modernizing the Army’s network to operate in a contested environment against a peer adversary.
Today, I serve as Senior Vice President for a Fortune 500 technology-first aerospace defense leader. Whether directing the Army Futures Command Network or executing a transition into corporate executive leadership, my philosophy is foundational: when crisis hits and the plan falls apart, you must lead with immediate initiative and take decisive action when it matters.

The roots of the philosophy
The leadership ideas in Loose Ball, My Ball did not come from a graduate seminar. They came from a football field at Pittsburg State University, personal experience on the battlefield. a hockey rink , a phone call from a son deployed in combat, and decades of getting communications up in austere and unforgiving terrain.
It is a career spent learning one truth over and over: the organization that makes better decisions faster wins. Everything else is detail. Ownership is a choice.
Find a way to get the puck. Find a way to score. Find a way to win.
— The Three Pillars, in their original form
LOOSE BALL, MY BALL
